Production & awards

Shooting took place over five days at Ealing Studios and a further six days on location at Bury Hill Fisheries, a family run commercial fishing lake south west of London. The crew worked tirelessly to get the movie in the can, with location shooting around water proving a particular challenge. Often, real fishermen would wander up and watch in amazement at just how slowly a film shoot moves, one fisherman commenting: “Fishing moves faster than this!”

The film went on to win over 40 international festival awards, and was shortlisted in the final 10 selection for a 2010 Oscar nomination.
